Hi, about how long does it take to get from orlando to Tampa . I will be working in Tampa but it seems cheaper to live in Orlando. Also are there toll booths going from one spot to the next and if so is there anyway around them(tolls)?

I always allot two hours when I drive from Tampa to Orlando or vice versa. The reality is you can make it in an hour and a half if there are no traffic issues. If there's a wreck or some other issue it can take two and a half hours.

Absolutely do not live in Orlando if your job is in Tampa. You will spend ridiculous amounts of time commuting and will constantly be filling your gas tank. What you may save in rent you'll lose in gas, wear and tear on your car, and time. If you have kids can you imagine getting an emergency call and being an hour and a half away? Could you drive safely while worried about your child? Live close to where you work and simplify your life. There are affordable places in the Tampa area. Best wishes.

A friends husband lives in Tampa (New Tampa in Hunters Green, off of Bruce B. Downs) and commutes to Orlando business area. He says it can take 2 hours because of 1) an accident 2) regular rush hour traffic 3) downpours.

He hates the commute, but has no other jobs right now. He is hoping to prove to them that he is capable of working from home most days.
