Hello! My boyfriend and I are planning to relocate from Maryland to somewhere warmer year round. I wanted to see if any Flordians could tell me the best place to relocate in Florida. I saw mixed reviews for Jacksonville and more promising for Tampa. Any other areas? Looking for a nice nightlife, plenty of things to do, near beach, and able to meet people our age! I do not want to be stuck in a "retirement" area. Thank you for all your help!!!

You would be fine in Tampa as twentysomethings. There are two large universities in the area, young professionals tend to be around the South Tampa and Downtown areas. Some of the nicest beaches in the country are about 30-40 mins from downtown Tampa on the Gulf of Mexico. Hyde Park, SoHo, Channelside and Ybor City offer lots of nightlife, four professional sports teams(baseball, hockey and football, arena football), and most major concerts and festivals take place in and around the Tampa area.

Gainesville was a great place for me when I was twenty-something. Great college town with tons to
do . Now, with kids, I love a bit slower Ocala with tons for
families, but few bars/clubs for the twenty-something.
