Hello!

I moved to the USA 10 days ago and still don't have driver's license and don't have a car.

I learned from many web-sites that I must pass drivers test with my own car. But right now I want just to get my driver's license and after that I plan to find a car.

So, right now I'm trying to undestand, if it is possible to to pass driving test using someone's car. Or maybe there are private companies which provide the same service as DMV and they also provide their own cars for driving test.

If it is not possible, then I'll have to find a way of passing drivers test without buying a car...

Not without a license and a major credit card.....

You can pass the driving test online, there are MANY online schools, then show up at DMV for the road test, borrow a friends car, have them IN the car with you...but you can't buy a car or register one without a license and proof of insurance.

Perhaps he has a license from his home country - and a credit card.

Yes, all I have right now is:

- My passport
- SSN
- Immigration visa (with temporary I-551 until I receive my PRC card)
- My foreign drivers license
- My foreigh debit card and my US debit card

What I don't have:

- A car
- Friends
- Friends with cars
- Credit history

So, I need a way to get my US driver's license.

At this time I see the following ways:

1) To find a mate with car, who will agree to spend his time for my driving test;
2) To rent a car for passing the driving test.

Are there other ways?

then I think you should be able to rent a car from the airport for the exam...and to drive around to find a car to buy...you may have to drop the whole amount since you have no credit...I would check Autotrader.com they have a large selection and you may find a car through a private owner.

If you have a foreign drivers license, passport and a debit card you should be able to rent a car. Look into Alamo or Dollar car rental.

Can't you drive on your country's license as a tourist? My German cousin comes here, rents cars, and travels in the USA all the time.

Something is fishy here; why do you need a FLORIDA driver's license if your only here temporarily on a visa and you already have a drivers license from another country????? Why don't you wait for your Green Card before you make things permanent?

Care to splain?
