I have lived in Tampa for over a year now, and I have not had one problem, at least in terms of crime. My, or any of my family's vehicles have not been stolen, I have never felt threatened in terms of being assaulted by anyone, or anything else like that. And I don't live in an elite area/neighborhood. It is more average-to-above average.

I'm sure there are very bad areas in Tampa, and I am not trying to make it out to look crime free. I am just saying that I've been here over a year, and still have not had anything bad (in terms of crime) against me (or anyone in this household).

I am thinking of moving to Tampa Bay from Pennsyvlania. I have lived in cities before, but now need to add schools to my list of where to live. I appreciate the posts about the bad neighborhoods, but what about the good? And which school district(s) are good? Thanks for your thoughts.

I came from NYC and lived in St Pete for more than a year and had no problem at all. Just use common sense like you would anywhere else, of course. But it is not Dodge City or anything like that. I lived in Atlanta also and that was far worse.
