I think you mean St Pete/clearwater airport is cheaper than TIA. All the smaller cheaper airlines fly out of St Pete, so it is usually much cheaper. But TIA is more convenient with more direct flights. Thats just my experience though.

It depends on where you're flying, Generally it's cheaper to fly out of main hubs because major airlines know they'll atleast come close to selling out most flights.

My past comment aside,

The Tampa Airport is also a very nice airport too. It's large, clean, easy to navigate, and there are many quaint shops and restaurants inside to visit. The art sculptures are beautiful!

My experience with the airports are like other's... it depends on your destination. I fly regularly out of Clearwater to visit family and I've never paid over $100 roundtrip. You should be prepared for traffic though. Our public transportation is very limited and we love our cars! Though the city of Tampa is quite small comparatively, the county is the third largest in the state.

I don;t think the OP is asking about the airport. I think he is asking if Tampa has a lower cost of living than St. Pete.
