I have been looking for a job (Sales, Babysitting, ANYTHING) for about 2 years now and have not found anything. Has anyone or is anyone in this situation?

Yeah, it is tough getting a job right now. Luckily I am a student, so I am not in desperate need of one.

Have you applied to Publix? My husband is out of work and has considered working for Publix. The manager in New Tampa said he could probably find a job at Publix.

He is a computer programmer and has a job possibility (out of state), so he is waiting to hear about this job. If that does not come through, he will be applying at Publix.

I know 2 people who are in very similar situations looking for ANYTHING! One friend had been looking for over a year and has applied to many many jobs without luck. She begged a friend for a job to work minimum wage at K-Mart and now works part-time. That was the best she could do. She even applied at Bush Gardens. There was a 2 week wait just for an appointment to interview.

Good luck!

I started looking in earnest in August 2009 and even with two degrees (BS Finance, Master's Real Estate) and a strong resume for someone straight out of school, I did not secure one interview until the second week of october, 2009. I was hired that same month. I suggest you start looking at job search groups, I found those to be the most helpful. I attended the Real Estate lives group as well as a Tampa Bay Job Search workshop. RE Lives is not limited to RE professionals anymore and would be a great place to start.

Default Finding work

I have been looking for work since I bought a house in Largo 5 months ago. I have a MBA and 13 years of health care experience and I have been as flexible as I can, applying for part time, full time, temp, temp to perm, still nothing. It is very frustrating. I have probably sent my resume out over 500 times, not exaggerating, and I have had only about a dozen interviews. Hopefully things will pick up soon. The best leads I have gotten, where I have actually gotten interviews, are temp agencies, craigslist and the employflorida website. Good luck!
