Madison is a decent school. It draws students from the local lower middle-class and blue collar neighborhoods. You never hear about anything bad happening there. I think they renovated part of it a few years ago. Madison feeds into Robinson High, which is another decent school, though it has its problems.

The area south of Woodlawn is iffy and all depends on you as a person. I don't feel threatened there at all, but some people might get uneasy. It's an old Tampa neighborhood that's seen its fair share of white flight and urban decay. That's leveled off since the 90s and it's becoming a good place again, partly since it's so close to Downtown and 4/275. The area west of Boulevard seems to be nicer than east. The closer you get to the river, the nicer the homes seem to be. The area around Boulevard/Columbus still has some characters from time to time. I was only in Riverside, JAX for an hour or so, but it sorta felt like Tampa Heights, minus some of the gentrification.

I hope you realize that Madison Middle is nowhere near Tampa Heights.

The closest schools to Tampa Heights are Stewart (across the river in the projects), Young (on MLK near 22nd, also near the ex-projects), and Memorial (on Central next to Hillsborough High). I don't know the boundaries for any of the schools. I just know that Stewart and Young are magnet schools.
