I just moved down from Maine and should have done more research regarding felony restrictions in Florida. I was convicted of a drug crime when I was 24 and was actually charged when I was 21.
I am now 33, married, with 2 young boys. I have read about felony restrictions and it is daunting. I see lists of places to work which are about all fast food chains and other jobs that wouldn't personally make me happy. I was looking into being a PI, Realtor, or a sales job. It seems my options are limited. I am open to suggestions for employment here that actually hold a future for me. I was laid off from a sales job up north and was employed there for 4 years. I made very good money and had a lot of fun. I hope I can find the same chance down here for me.
Thanks!

I will say that even with a misdemeanor it is very hard to find anything down here. My cousin has one and he has not found anything after moving here.

Is it something that can be expunged?

I just googled it and looks as though, at least in Florida, you might be able to do that, unless it was trafficking, or a violent offense.

Sealing or Expunging a Criminal Record in Florida with a Criminal Defense Attorney

Might be worth looking into.

Of course right now with there being a lack of jobs out there it is going to be hard and any negative aspect will affect you.
That being said I don't think that the conviction is going to keep you out of too many sales jobs. Just be upfront on any job applications when they ask about prior convictions.
Have you checked the employflorida.com website for job listings?
