Seminole might be the easiest. Safety Harbor is at the other end of the county. Lakewood Ranch might be pretty quick, but I don't know the traffic down there, nor do I know if it's even close to 75.

Why not just live in St. Pete?

Seminole by far would be the easiest and offer more choices in terms of routes. Pull out a map and notice the grid layout of streets in Pinellas County. You're not stuck using one thoroughfare to go from Point A to Point B.

Lakewood Ranch is right off the interstate, so you would be riding interstate all the way to downtown St. Pete (going over the Skyway Bridge). We live in north Sarasota and just made that trip yesterday (Saturday) and took us 40-45 minutes.

Can't answer about the other commutes.

Safety Harbor takes about 45 min. during a normal rush hour drive.

Moving to area in 1 month. Will be working near Dali Museum. Have a 5 and 2 year old. Will be in public schools. Important are (1) good public schools, (2) commute time, (3) nice house and good neighborhood.

Would love to live in South St. Pete (very south mind you) or northeast as they have good communte time and generally nice neighborhoods. Schools aren't so great (compared to Seminole and Lakewood Ranch Area). And you get more for your money in terms of house in East Manatee vs. Northeast (houses haven't dropped so much in NE).

I would to hear comments!

Okay, so it seems...and these are approximate rush hour times b/c it depends on where the starting location is in a town....but just trying to get an idea:

(1) Middle of Seminole to Dali - 30-35 minutes, traffic lights

(2) Middle of Safety Harbor to Dali - 45 minutes, traffic lights and worse commute than Seminole

(3) Lakewood Ranch - 40 minutes, highway

Does this sound about right?

Yes, and the Safety Harbor Commute will be stop-and-go with all the lights, by far the worst commute I think.

Lakewood Ranch is the farthest mile-wise but in a way is the easiest because you will have very few traffic lights. The only issue will be if there is ever a problem on the Skyway Bridge.
