I would definitely say St Pete is conservative, and I love that it feels more southern than some other large areas.

Well you might see a Confederate flag or two (or three is you go to Pinellas Park) and there is a somewhat Southern feel, but decades of northern immigration has left its mark. There is more of an outdoorsy Florida feel here IMO. Certianly fishing/boating/beachgoing is huge- Pinellas County has one of the largest number of registered boaters in the State.

Also the Tampa Bay area has WMNF radio- on the literal far left of the radio dial. While I find them far too liberal for my tastes viewpoint-wise (yet ironically not liberal enough with their music selections), I do listen and think it's an essential part of the culture here.

I've been told St. Pete is fairly Democratic throughout and more blue than red...however the farther north towards Clearwater and beyond tend to be more conservative.

What's the deal?
St. Petersburg and mostly the rest of Pinellas County are liberal. The other areas, outside of Pinellas County are really, really conservative.
