My dh has driven from Carrollwood to Kendall so many times I think he could do it in his sleep. He suggested you allow 5-1/2 hours because of traffic congestion going through Miami. We've also cruised out of Port Miami. Dropping off family and baggage and parking will also take more time because of the thousands coming and going simultaneously.

I hope you have a wonderful time and enjoy! But next time, pick your cruise from Port Tampa - LOL!

I wish I could have. The dates worked well since the kids are out of school on Friday, I have the time off and it was $131pp. Couldn't beat the deal.

Definitely leave by 7, once you get close to the port traffic can back up. Besides once you get on the ship they should be handing out the free drinks so getting on a little early is a good thing.

Thanks everyone. Decided to just pick a kennel in Miami, so the dogs get to go on a car ride. lol The local Kennel here seemed nice but 1) I would have had to drop them off a day earlier. I really don;t want the poor pups to be at a kennel longer than they have to. 2) The lady never answers her phone or email. She takes 6 hours to call back, does not reply to emails and only allows you to drop and pick up at 9am or 6pm. Makes me wonder is anyone is actually there watching the dogs.

The kennel in Miami is the same price, allows us to leave nice and early (told DW we need to be out of the house at 7am). You can pick up and drop off anytime between 8:30am and 6pm and it had excellent reviews online.

Looks like Tropical Storm Paula is going to rain on our parade. Looks like rain and I am betting rough seas. Thankfully we don;t get sea sick. 8 hours on a 19 foot boat in 4 foot seas only put my kids to sleep, so I hop we'll be fine.

That is why I love my kennel. Private rooms with beds, tv room, play time all day if the dogs want.
And no more expensive than a kennel with just cages and an hour of playtime a day.

Another option for future reference would be a house/dog sitter. When I traveled a lot for work, I had a huge doggy door so wolfpuppy had full range of the house & property plus I'd have a daily sitting service feed, walk & groom him. It worked out really well.
