Absolutely not, in fact its quite the opposite. Most hospitals including the one I work for are looking specifically for RN's. LPN's and CNA's most readily find work in private clinics, offices, or skilled nursing facilities.

As another poster mentioned, there is an overabundance of nearly all healthcare workers right now. This problem is due to increased enrollment and graduation after the economic downturn of the past few years.

As for the Nursing shortage, I believe there is no Nursing shortage. The reality is theres a shortage of Nurses who are willing to work. Nursing remains a female dominated industry, and in most cases these female Nurses have spouses with benefits. With the rigors of being a mother or other obligations this makes working part time very lucrative to them. Many Nurses I've encountered are only willing to work a few days a week and only during daylight hours.
