Would you like a Tim Hortin's in Tampa Florida? Do you think it would be successful there?

Would I like one? No. Would it be successful? Maybe. Depends on the neighborhood and location. Put it in the suburbs where people are mediocre have no culture. It will integrate well into a sea of applebees and golden corrals.

I just googled it. Looks like it is somewhere between a dennys and an applebees.

Nope - I'd just go to a Starbucks or Panera.

Those are full fledged restaurants.

Tim Horton's looks like a coffee/pastry type of place.

further reading leads me to believe is is like a panera bread, with a dennys vibe.

Tim Horton's is more like a Dunkin Donuts type of place. They have coffee, donuts and some sandwiches (yes, much like Panera or Einstein Bagels, etc) Horton's is largely unknown in lower part of the country...I believe they originated in Canada. My brother in law lives in Upstate NY so when we visit him, we have gone to a Tim Horton's. I would rate it...OK. Nothing I would travel a great distance for, since I can easily get a donut at Krispy Kreme which I happen to like better.

I honestly don't know if that would do well here. We already have quite a few places that sell the same things (and that playing field gets wider all the time). Speaking of Krispy Kreme, several years ago, they spread out all over the place too (during the period of their IPO...I believe around 2002-2003) and...well, we all know how that turned out. Some of those locations are STILL vacant buildings.

So I would say on Horton's...probably not. Maybe somewhere like Orlando where you have a LOT more tourists.

Yep, had a friend from Michigan who bragged about how great the Tim Horton's coffee was... I wasn't that impressed when I had some of their coffee.

Yeah, as one of the earlier posters mentioned, Orlando would probably be the best place in the state due to the tourists. Orlando has some restaurant chains that the rest of the state lacks--Del Taco, Sizzler, Friendly's, Big Boy--which is probably due to the tourists.
