He was such a nice dog, until he killed the baby
Dad: Dog That Killed Baby 'Very Loving' - Jacksonville News Story - WJXT Jacksonville (http://www.news4jax.com/news/25516673/detail.html - broken link)

Pit Bulls? you can rationalize all you want about how nice this breed is but scratch the surface and you have a psychotic killer that can snap at any time with no provocation.

Just one of many similar stories. When will pit bull owners learn?

I can find many stories of Pomeranians and Chiauaus killing babies.
When will their owners learn?

This debate comes up time and again. Not going to get in the middle of it this time, just going to say to the OP, that if your post is serious, the big problem you will have is finding anyone willing to rent to you. I used to be a landlord and could not allow ANY dogs due to insurance issues. These days, insurance is even more strict, and it is virtually impossible to find a rental that allows these breeds.

Sorry, but since I had a chihuahua that was killed by a pit bull right in front of my eyes, its hard to take your post serious.

I know i no longer live in tampa but my grand daughters face was mauled by one of these pitt bulls and the owners were like "well he never did that before " hence first time for everything . They also had to be taken to court to pay for my grand daughters surgery . this child will never be the same , even though she still loves dogs but every time she sees a pitt she does not want to get anywhere near it thank god . The old adage is my dog would never do that excuse me you dont know what your dog is capable of .I hope one day all 50 states ban pitbull ownership . sorry just the way I feel .

I wasn't trying to offend anyone.
Just pointing out that many dogs can attack and size doesn't matter because they will attack something their size if they are a smaller dog.

The big thing that always comes up in these threads is that pit owners don't know when their dog will snap but it can happen with any dog and the reason you see many more news stories about pits is for 2 main reasons.

The first reason is that many, many, many times the police, reporter, etc will not even research what type of dog it really is if it even remotely resembles a pit bull, they will just call it a pit bull even if it is a Catahoula.

The second is a very large portion of the population of pit owners that raise them to fight or other nefarious activities.

Yes, my dog will protect me if someone attacked me as a good dog should but I don't raise my dog to fight and she should not be grouped in with a drug dealers dog as if they are the same.
