They have a VA hospital in Bay pines so how would it be to retire within 10 miles of Bay Pines and how nice is the area and how expensive is it to live there?

The Bay Pines VA hospital is one of the best VA hospitals in the country. They have many satelite clinics from Pinellas county down to Fort Myers. As for Pinellas county, I lived there from 1981-2006. They have nice beaches, many restuarants, shopping centers and entertainment venues. It is very congested now, all main roads are heavily traveled . Nice neighborhoods can be pricey. We currently live in Sarasota county, still has beautiful beaches and entertainment but overall less congested. If you need the services at the hospital frequently I would try to find something in Pinellas county as commuting from neighboring counties can get old really fast. Good luck to you. Thank you for serving.

Ten miles is a pretty big radius. That includes everything from beachfront homes to grungy trailer parks. Most of the areas around Bay Pines aren't that bad. Bay Pines is surrounded by Seminole, Lealman, and St. Pete.
