I'm trying to find out if Long John Silvers is anything like Captain D's... and if its worth heading over there on Tue. to trash it out.
I haven't eaten at either chain in many years (only ate once at Cap D's in Dade City) but I would say they are pretty much the same. If you like one, you should like the other. Go ahead and "trash it out" - nothing like trying it for yourself!

In all fairness, others jumped on my bandwagon- I was the first to be critical of your choice in resturant!

I guess I am kind of a day-by-day person and as a fitness and nutrition freak. I dont even eat lean cuisines because of the amount of sodium in it. All of my sodium intake comes from natural sea salt. Ocassionally I will have some cheese with wine. I order my food at resturants without salt, on food that is fresh to begin with (i am very selective of my resturant and menu selections) The amount of fat and sodium i would consume at a resturant like that would throw me into a 24-48 hour funk where I would feel miserable.

I take it this far: I wont even eat subway because of the sodium in the deli meats and bread.

My diet primarly consists of grilled fish and chicken (which I buy fresh, not frozen), vegitables which I try to buy fresh, or at least frozen bagged from the fresh market, pomagranate, apples, grapes, protien shakes oatmeal, water and almond milk.

Just because I choose to live this sort of lifestyle doesnt give me the right to be critical or preachy about other peoples diets. so.... my apologies for starting it!

Try the Subway vegetarian on a 6" flat bread, get your favorite veggies doubled and top it off with the sweet onion sauce. addiction warning posted

haha- i would, but i wont eat the sauce because of sugar, and I wont eat a meal without protein! The flat bread has 450 mg of sodium which is too much for one sitting IMO. But thanks for the suggestion!

Craig for some one with such a strict diet you have me wondering why you would bother checking out a topic thats all about Long John Silvers and Captain D's.
I'm sensing an evil twin lurking close by?

I always liked LJS for the occasional fish fry. I use to go to Capt D's in TnC too.

LJS is a disgrace to seafood. It is the worst fast food joint I have ever been and that is really saying something. Its the only place I can actually say no thanks to shrimp. Tasteless fried garbage is what it is. The only way to make any of it taste better is smothering it in condiments.

Ewww. That doesn't look like the LJS that I've gotten. That looks too dark and overcooked. I'd send that order back! lol LJS is usually a light golden color. Ok, the yucky fries do look like LJS's, but I dont eat those anyway.

But I can see how quality could differ from one location to the next. We have two locations, one is good with the food being hot and fresh, the other always cold and greasy, so we wont go to that one anymore.

The name says LJS in the Google image description ,scroll down a few lines and you'll see the pic i posted..But how much quality in the food is probably dependant on which minimum wage student you have cooking the food''

long john silver's - Google Search

I went to LJS's... had the fried fish and chicken combo. Really wasn't that bad but I dip this into tartar sauce... the sides suck but the cole slaw was medium (doctored with a lot of pepper) As far as a comparison I like Capt. D's better. Its a different change from the once a month fast food though.

Neither compares to the now defunct High Tide Fish&Chips on Hillsborough ave. though.

I'd do it again... months from now.
