No way! Are they selling you a bottled water?

You are not even a median consumer of Tampa Bay which is about 6000 gallons. 1600 gallon is no where near $477, it should be way less than that depending where you are....

We used approx 11,000 gallons of water and were billed $53.00
  • Water Charge = $22
  • Tampa bay water pass-through = $1.50(no idea what this is)
  • Wastewater Charge = $29.50

I still don't understand how wastewater charge can be higher than water consumption??

Please post the number of gallons used and your monthly bill break-down.

You are getting a great deal because City of Tampa is the cheapest around. But still you should be paying a little higher for 11000. probably they didn't read your meter this time around. I just did the calculations (for anyone interested, here is the info for City of Tampa to calculate your water rate http://www.tampagov.net/dept_water/f...esidential.pdf)

11000 gallon is 14.7 ccf ( 11000/748 gallons), the unit that is used to calculate the rates.

therefore your tiered rate would be:

5*$2.09 + 8*$2.43 + 1.7*4.07 = $36.81, not the $22 you cited.

If you are outside the city limit, then that cost becomes $45.93.

Here is the explanation for the Tampa Bay Water pass-through charges (Water Rates)

how do you use 11000 gallons? Lot of kids? Pool? Just curious. We used 4000 gallons for a family of 3 plus we cloth diaper so that uses up a few extra loads of laundry a week.

No pool and no kids. I guess I have to monitor our usage. Can you post your water breakdown?
