Hi all,

I recently got a job and will be moving to the Carillon area in north St Pete and was wondering if it's safe there.

I'm specifically looking at Promenade at Carillon (on Carillon Parkway) and also Camden Lakes (MLK north of Gandy) and Tamaring Bay Apts (on 4th St north of Gandy). Anyone have any feedback on these apartment complexes? Or any similar? I'm looking to spend around $700-800 for a 1bdroom.

Thanks for your help!
-Gwen

The area where Camden Lakes is located is OK. There are many apartment complexes in the same area. I lived in a couple of them around 2005. I never had any crime problems at that time.

Safety is largely individual comfort and preferences. That area I would consider safe. I've been there, but never lived there, and I can tell you it's safer than where I am near USF. I really don't feel like I'm in any danger here either, at least not violent crime. There's a break-in or two a month near me (that I know of) but if you're smart and careful you can be perfectly safe. Lock your doors, don't leave anything in plain sight in your car, and you shouldn't ever have a problem!
