Actually...that storm was not that bad for this area. Mini-hurricane? Hmmm...get ready for a change in the weather that you're used to.

Here's a preview of the weather you'll see as a new Floridian....

From now until the end of March....very mild temps, some rain but not lots. We'll get another cold spell that will feel freezing for those of who aren't used to cold

End of March through mid-May-Warmer temps but still very pleasant. Dry.

Late May through early October (with the high period coming from June through September)-Oppressively humid and muggy, hot. Rains almost every day between 230-430, lasting about half an hour. Thunderstorms frequently, and some are like violent monsoons, with all manner of thunder and lightning.

October-November-Starts to cool down but still with spots of hot and muggy.

Rain everyday? Maybe where you live. Lets just get right to it, mid May to mid Oct is true hell with lows in the upper 70's and highs around 87 to 96. Then add a reverse west wind flow and i enjoy no chances of rain, lows in the lower 80's and highs around 96, on my part of the gulf anyway.

Sounds like the 'no name storm' we had back in 96 IIRC. Flooded streets/homes and tornadoes. Not common in the winter but they do happen.

That storm was in March of 1993. I remember it well. I remember friends not showing up for school the next day because their house was destroyed, others showing up because their house was unlivable and parents sending their kids to school until they could figure out what to do. That was one crazy storm.

It is funny though, when people were warning me of this storm coming the first thing I thought was "don't let this be another No-Name Storm".

Luckily this storm didn't hit us too hard where I live.

I was tracking this storm at work, giving DW updated. Told her to take down the basketball hoop and bring in the hammock. I know I am alone here, but I can't wait for it to warm up. I miss my unheated pool.

You are not alone! I can not wait. I love the heat. It's way too cold for me lately.

And I'll take summertime pop-up storms over that line that went through any day.

The mini-hurricane came north and gave us 19 inches of snow last night. I was supposed to be boarding a plane right now for my final interview in TPA, guess it'll have to wait.

Mother nature sucks.

Please stop calling it a mini-hurricane, it was nothing more than a typical strong winter storm. If you think that was bad you don't want to see a real hurricane, "mini" or otherwise.

We are due for a CAT 5 one of these days. Our luck can't keep going on since 1921.
