Amen to what you said about those stupid vehicle inspections, endless car taxes and the cost of housing is appalling. Other fine features of Northern VA are the smog, litter, hilly roads (ugh), gloomy-icy-snowy-horrid winters, crowds, traffic - I could go on and on.
Btw, I totally agree on the palm trees - I love them. I like to find unusual ones at plant shows, but some of mine succumbed last winter.

I grew up in Reston, VA and also lived in Chantilly and Woodbridge. The only thing I miss about VA are my friends. I sooooooooo appreciate not having to deal with the things I listed. I am so thankful for being here. I have a much better quality of life here! I love, love, love my surroundings and the smell and feel of a nice sea breeze and the sight of the most gorgeous sunsets I have ever seen. We are truly blessed!
