I know this is a common question, but hoped to get some expert advice given my circumstances:

1. 28 yr old single male. I like going out some (a quality beer or bourbon always hits the spot), but hope to be in an area where I'll be around other educated professionals. I've heard South Tampa/Hyde Park/Soho might be the best places.

2. I'll be working on the USF campus (professor). This probably means a fair commute if I live in South Tampa/Hyde Park/Soho, but 20 minutes is acceptable if the area is cool. This probably rules out anything in the westchase area (i.e. Phillips International Drive, the Millenium) as I'll have to fight traffic going into downtown on my way to campus.

3. Hoping to find a 1 BR between 1k and 2k/mo (salary = 100k). Big range yes, but willing to pay the premium if it's the "perfect" place...nice friendly staff, good facilities and amenities, safety, etc.

4. I think I want to avoid apartment complexes that are predominantly filled with undergrads.

5. If at all possible, it would be cool to have an apartment community where I could (safely) walk outside and grab a bite to eat or find a local bar.

Some places that might be of interest:
1. Element and/or Skypoint: looks nice.
2. Grand Central at Kennedy/Seaport Channelside: both have fair access to a gym and a grocery store not too far away.
3. Post Harbor Place --near a hospital, smart people, right?
4. Post Hyde Park
5. The Lodge at Lake Crest (near USF campus)--looks nice and would still be close to campus.

Maybe I'm asking too much, but hopefully "crowdsourcing" my search will point me in the right direction. Any advice is much appreciated!!
