Hey all. I am trying to plan a bachelor party for a friend in st. petes beach. We are all approaching 30 years old and were looking to stay on or within walking distance of the beach and also an area that we can walk or a very short cab ride < 5 minutes to the bars. We will be visiting from a thursday-sunday at the end of april/beginning of may. I've never been there before so any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks!!!!!

even any street names near the beach/bars to look for places to stay would be helpful

I would do a little different: stay in south tampa area and drive to the beach for the day (get some DD) and at night time hit SOHO or ybor and if there is any need for exotic clubs, they are there too.

Are there not any good places to hang out at night in st. petes? Will our only options be soho or ybor for going out?

I haven't been to clubs/bars in St. Pete, i know there are some, but i can't really give you advice on that. I know for a fact that SOHO can be fun and there are a lot of young people out in the bars. Ybor gave me mixed vibe when i was there. Some places look nice, other ones seemed to be shady, i guess it depends on the night and style of the place you are looking for. This is what i would do: in google maps navigate to ybor/st.pete/soho area and search for bars/clubs and you should get quite a few results within the area. Most of them have their own websites so you can then check out individual places to see if it is something you would be comfortable with. Our social life expert for Tampa left forums so now it's a little harder to get first hand info.

Downtown St. Pete has some great places to hang out. Bishop's Tavern is good, Push Ultralounge (if you like clubs), the Garden, Vintage Ultralounge, Crowley's (like an Irish pub), and the Independent (my favorite).

Downtown St. Pete is a lot of fun at night, and it's very easy to hit five or more bars just walking around.

Depending on if you want to be within staggering distance, you could check out Postcard Inn. Not the classiest place, but.......
