I've extensively studied Tampa this week. I feel like I could pass a test on Tampa. I've decided I'd be willing to pay slightly more for this area.

I did want to ask about the nightlife in this area. I like fashion and I'm into it myself. I work out alot, and I'm what people would call "metrosexual", although I consider that an outdated term. I'm just a guy who likes fashion and to work out/eat healthy a lot.

Here in Iowa, this is just uncommon. I feel too feminine for this society although I'm straight. It's a bunch of dudes in polos/khakis still wearing their high school letter vests/college caps. I've always felt strange here, although used to it by now. Or, it's all UFC fighter wannabes.

This is sort of a different question...but does SoHo nightlife have a very "toughguy" vibe?
I'm more of "feminine" type guy - love fashion, work in the salon industry, but I still watch football, play sports, gamble, etc.

And - how are the male/female ratios? I don't want to go somewhere that's a bunch of mice in search of one piece of cheese - if you know what mean. That's how it is here and it leads to social instability. You really have to watch your back.

I really can't stand the way it's gotten here and it's a big reason I want to leave.

I lived in Chicago before but far from all the clubs so I didn't get to go too often so had to settle for regular bars in the area. The areas near the nightlife in Chicago were just too expensive.

I live in suburban Des Moines, IA right now and the prices aren't too far off living in Tampa. For some place, this place and most of the upper midwest is overpriced.

There are plenty of affliction guys here in the bars
As for guys/girls ratio, it's a lot of hit and miss, some places have nice ratio for one night, then the other time it's all meat. Try Drinko bar/club it is a little more towards to NYC style than most other places.
If you stumble upon nice place, let me know

the south tampa SoHo nightlife scene is FULL of wannabe UFC fighter/poser tough guy types. we call them 30k milli's(dudes posing as millionaires making 30k at best in a call center). it will be very annoying at first then become comical once u get used to it. as far as the women in the clubs, well they dont call it trampa for nothing. tons of girls dressed like strippers/porn stars that are more than willing to hook up. its decent for one night stands and crazy experiences but i would leave it at that. dont expect to find a stable relationship or "good" girl in the tampa bar/club scene. dont expect to find a career oriented girl with a job either. u can have fun if u just see the scene for what it is, a big joke or game amongst many poser clowns. enjoy

So Tampa is UFC city now as well? hmm. I thought there would be enough hipsters to balance things out.

Given there is a latin vibe there...just can't see it being nearly as bad.

Iowa is easily the biggest UFC state in the country. I'm not really looking for the crazy nightlife either, unless an international dj is in town, or I'm with a large group of people.

Just need to know where the classy women go in Soho. Those places usually aren't overrun by UFC toughguy idiots.

I'm guessing it's all meat more often than not?

They're everywhere these days, can't avoid it(They= Moderator cut: snip 30kmili's, gay, straight, normal people, focked up people...its all what YOU make it and who YOU choose to be around). Sounds like you might like the Miami area better but probably won't like the prices around there.

Well, it's good to have a wide spectrum of society. That's what makes up the world. I don't mind that at all.

I have nothing against the 30K millionaire. Would it be better to completely succumb to lameness because you can't afford a certain lifestyle - but want to? If you think about it - any single male "30K millionaire" is doing all he can to make himself more appealing to women in the area - at least the attractive ones. Probably didn't have to in 1950. And people living this way usually at least goto the gym and workout.

I've seen it both ways. One night the place was 50/50, the other ... well you couldn't get in because it was packed what it looked like a meat fest. But yea that would be fair assumption i guess

WoW.. I will be sure to tell my niece since she does go to SoHo to party. She owns her own home, is the mgr at a well known company. I have seen tons of photos of her at clubs and she was not dressed like a stripper or a porn star.

There are all types of ppl at these places you sometimes just see the ones that are making the biggest commotion.
