My husband and I are looking to move to the Tampa Bay area. At first glance I thought that the SoHo, Hyde Park area sounded great. We enjoy good restaurants, walkable access to shops and cafe's and enjoy the outdoor atmosphere and vibe of people biking, walking, running and staying healthy. But the more I read, the more it sounds like it is mainly a place for young adults in their 20's....maybe early 30's.
Now don't get us wrong, although we are 40's the idea of living in a community with younger neighbors is not a problem for us, but how will we be received?
Should we continue to look into this area? We are currently living on the Atlantic Ocean side of the state, but plan to go out to the Tampa Bay area this weekend to get a closer look.
Can someone please comment on the SoHo, Hyde Park area. Should we be looking elsewhere? How about downtown? is that a good area as far as vibe?
or is downtown totally dead on the weekends?
Ideally, I would love to live in an area that would feature a farmers market with fresh fruits and vegetables.

You would be fine in either. Check them out.

Also check out Harbour Island and Davis Island.

Ybor/Channelside probably has the youngest average since it's a bunch of busted condos or overbuild apts gone rentals.

Are you looking only in Tampa or all over the Bay area? If so, check out downtown St. Petersburg or downtown Sarasota, both of which have a whole lot more of what I believe you are looking for, with the bonus of beautiful Gulf beaches. Of course, if you are working in Tampa, you may want to stick to that side of the Bay.
