My girlfriend and I found out that we will be moving to Tampa this summer. We'll probably make the move in late June or early July. We're in our early 20's and will be going to USF. I have a few questions about moving and am looking for some help. First are there any suggestions of apartment complexes? We would like to live within 10-15 min of USF with a budget of $900 for a two bedroom. Also we do have a dog, so places that are dog friendly would be a plus. We were also wondering how early before we move we could come down and sign a lease? Thanks for the help.

Just google USF apartments, there are plenty of sites for apartment around USF. Check around 50th, 42nd, and McKinley Rd.

It is not Suit Case City. What you are referring to as Suit Case City is adjacent to the University Mall and across from the major road Bruce B. Downs. There are also some decent apartments on 56th street behind Chucks Natural food store.

We're not set on any one area. We just don't want to have a long commute.

Also we're not interested in places that are overrun with students partying all the time. We would rather live a little further from campus than deal with that.

Everything East of North Blvd, west of I-75 and South of about Bearss has huge pockets of ghetto. Sure there are a couple nice areas, but you are always less than a mile "as the crow flies" from a ghetto...

That is so true... and very disappointing, to be honest, as that is a huge portion of Tampa.

After talking to someone we somewhat know in the area we have decided on the tampa palms area. Does anyone have any experience with specific apartment complexes in that area?

We lived at Bristol Place for several years and loved it. That was probably 4 years ago though so I don't know what kind of shape the place is in right now. It has a great location though. You want to remember that the further you go out bruce b downs, the worse the traffic gets and the further away from usf and it's surroundings you'll get.

If you want to live in an amazing apartment complex, check out lodge at lakecrest. It's right next to Busch Gardens. Not in Tampa Palms and you would probably have to get a 1 bedroom on your budget but it's awesome. There are some students here but it's mostly working professionals and even some older folks. The higher price weeds out a lot of the students.
