We are looking into relocating to the South Tampa area from Ann Arbor MI. We have 2 young children, one 6 yo and one almost 3. While visiting the city we found three properties in the following neighborhoods, the poets area of Sunset Park, New suburb beautiful and Hyde Park. We would appreciate insights on the areas (pros and cons) and know that it is all so subjective as while the areas are very close to each other they feel very different. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hyde Park and New Suburb Beautiful are decidedly more upper middle- to upper-class neighborhoods, while Sunset Park is still pretty average middle-class. All three neighborhoods are highly desirable and convenient to most of the Bay Area's activities. It depends on the block and all, but you'll probably get more of a community feel in these neighborhoods than you do in some suburban developments.

All of the elementary and middle schools in the three neighborhoods are good, and all three neighborhoods feed into Plant High, which is one of the best schools in the county and very desirable. There aren't too many cons, really. Traffic can be a problem at rush hour, but since South Tampa has a grid system (to a degree), shortcuts can be found. Some streets flood during heavy rains, but the water goes away thirty minutes after the rain stops. If you live in Hyde Park and parts of NSB, just keep in mind all of the things that come along with the Gasparilla parade.

Since all three of the neighborhoods are great and the schools are all comparable (if not the same), I suggest just picking the house that you like the best/is the most affordable for your budget.
