Agreed, Downtown St. Pete has the nightlife and walkability that you'd probably want. There are many apartment communities in downtown St.Pete, although some are expensive.

Here's some communities you may want to look into:
There are also smaller communities within downtown.

We have two kids, but we really wanted to move into the place at channelside. In fact if it wasnt for the fact that we have kids we would have.

It had everything that we wanted, but the lack of an area for the kids to play was the real killer.
The compromises you make as a parent

A lot of Northeast St. Pete is in low-lying hurricane evacuation zones.

Im also looking to move to tampa within a yr with my boyfriend we are in our twentys . Im basically looking for a nice area, that still has alot of action going on and apt prices are reasonble preferably 700-850 a month. This will be my first time moving out on my own and I dont want to regret it. I perfer to have a 2bd apt but a 1bd can work in the meantime while I get accustom to tampa.
because I am truly clueless about tampa I really dont kno where to start on areas to look at that seem ok to live, ive read channelside, soho and hyde park are good areas but what other areas of tampa are decent as well as havin some kind of night life?
Sorry my post is long but im excited bout moving out on my own and I dont want to regret it. So any input would help.
Thanks.
P.s. Is craigslist the only site to find rental apt listings that are updated?
