We've decided not to bring our current furniture as it's old and we just don't wanna bring it down, knowing we'd probably replace it within a few months. We're looking for a good place to buy furniture down there (PLEASE, NO IKEA, I know they're cheap, but gosh their stuff sucks) and also a place where they have modern furniture at great prices. Thanks in advance.

Default consignment

If by "new" furniture you meant "new to you" there is a great little consignment shop in clearwater called Consignment Furniture (I know-brilliant). They also have a shop in St. Pete. They are very picky about what they take and their inventory changes daily. I've found some really funky things there. Some of the stuff comes from chic vacation homes and is hardly used. If you tell them what you are looking for, they will call you. AND...they deliver!!!

But, you gotta keep checking as it is hit or miss. I bought a beautiful solid wood "pottery barn" style dining room set with 6 chairs and two table extensions for $400 and they delivered it to my house in two days

Welcome to Tampa BTW!

We found Ashley Furniture ti be very nice and durable. I don't like how Rooms To Go sells beds with the bunkie boards to screw ppl our of more money. You can't go wrong with Ashley and they also have the Rent A Center so if you don't like it don't want it etc you can return it wihtin a specified amount of time. Or if you just don't want ro drop 1k or more at once. We found it convenient and always paid before the 90 thing so didn't incur any interest.

We have some success with rooms to go. What I like is what we bought a year ago doesn't exist anymore (in fact kind of disappointed since we wanted a matching part that we didn't buy when we were in a smaller place) so that makes what you have unique, lol. Having said that we found American Signature (the one in Dale Mabry & Ehrlich) to be nice. We bought our kid's bedset there and it is a wow to whoever saw it. I waited quite a few month to get a discount (something like 20% off).

My advise is research what you want to buy but don't pool the trigger yet. Just wait and you will see that they will reduce the price in few month's. It works for other shops too.

Ikea? Nah, that's for college kids or for some wannabe pros..

Good luck

Like the other post a couple days ago about mattresses, you would be surprised about what you can order online and have shipped. About half the furniture in my house was something I saw in a furniture store, looked up online and had it shipped for a cheaper price (including the delivery charges).

Beds, recliners, tables, etc: someone will ship it out of a warehouse for a lot less than a retail store.

chi_tino, if you don't mind sharing, where did you look online? Are these store or warehous websites or through marketplaces like E-Bay or Amazon?
