How does anyone in Tampa find a dentist that's not part of a corporate chain?

Thanks.

check your dental insurance. they provide a list of dentists on their website. I found the 20 dentists closest to where I wanted to go (as there are prob 1000s on the list) and I did research, reading reviews on them. Finally chose the most awesome dentist in town.

If they are in a practice with a name other than their own is usually a good hint although Friendly Smiles is owned by 2 dentist .. Dr Friendly and Dr. Smiley. They are probably the exception but there are other dentist in their practice. I really don't consider them a corporation unlike Coastal Dental which has offices all over the southeast.

Google the dentist office name. If they have several location ie: BRIGHT DENTAL they are a chain. Or..... use a phone, call them and ask.

It seems like all the ones on this plan I have, have multiple locations...and the ones I googled don't take my plan! I just have a discount plan...hmmm...I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to ask them if they were corporate or not.

Thank you,

Default how do you post a new question or just answer this

I can't figure out how to post a new question, it can't be that difficult but I don't see anything. Sorry for replying to this thread but it is a dental question
ANYWAY
If anyone works in a dental office----I just moved here and went to a chain and they wouldn't give me the regular cleaning I HAD to get the deep cleaning/scaling and a bunch of other crap basically I just didn't believe. I always go to the dentist but have just moved to Florida and find out you have to have the exam before the teeth cleaning. Double dipping on the copays or pays for sure.
I don't care if I really do need that scaling I don't want to put myself in debt just to clean my teeth. I have read on the Internet Florida dentists say don't clean if you need scaling because it just pushes the germs in the gums. I would buy that a little more if it wasn't a common practice in virtually every other state.
Basically I don't want to go to dentist after dentist pay for an exam and then be told they won't do a basic cleaning. OF COURSE you need the scaling...it's like asking a used car salesman if you need a new car.
How would you phrase this inquiry when trying to pick a new dental office.
The last one cost me 75 bucks after I walked out because I didn't accept their offer of almost 5 grand worth of work when I had been to the dentist in my old state less than six months ago and everything was fine.

Our dentist is not part of a chain, and both my daughter and I absolutely love her. Its a very warm, environment, run by all women, in Carrollwood. Dr Elizabeth Deweese.
