I am 40, male, single, enjoy working out, healthy lifestyle...
I am looking for a place/city/neighborhood that is close to a "city" style neighborhood (I live in Philadelphia)... pedestrian friendly neighborhoods where I can WALK to multiple eateries (I don't do chains), bars, coffee shops, stores. One of the many things I do not like about most places in Florida is having to drive to every single place you want to go. I can walk all over philly (or any other city I've been in) and find something to eat/see or buy every few blocks.

I will be working as an RN hopefully in a hospital or wound clinic setting, and going to school to finish my BSN. I have check into various edu options and believe I have a good grasp on them... but am always open to opinions.

I will be renting and cost is always a factor.. I find it difficult to get a good basis for salary and cost of living. I have a friend who worked in Celebration Hosp, and around Lakeland/Winter Haven areas and was paid what I consider very low wages for a nurse.

I have been reading posts and think Brandenton or South Tampa/Hyde Park/SoHo may be comparable places??

I am looking to move around October so I have some time.... Thanks for all replies.

I have posted in both Sarasota and Tampa forums because they attract hopefully different people... the ones who actually have moved to or live there.

Check out Tampa General. You can live on Davis Island fairly reasonable. There is also a small hospital Memorial Hospital on Swann in S. Tampa. Both of these areas are walkable and have restaurants and bars that are walkable.

You will like Sarasota better than Tampa. You can live near downtown and do all you mentioned. We have Sarasota Memorial Hospital about 20 blocks from Downtown. The Sarasota Bayfront is right off downtown with spectacular views.

Also Doctors hospital east by the interstate, but you'd need to bus over there about a 20 minute ride.
