Again making ends meet is not the greatest way to have to live.

You've obvious never been there. Look at it on Google maps set to satellite and you'll see that it is not in the mountains.

Sheltered from heavy snow? 60" in 2009-2010 isn't a lot? That's 5 feet of snow!
Pffft. Syracuse and Flagstaff both get more than double that on an average year. That's typical or below average for most of the northeast and midwest.

Here is the facts. 34.2 to 61 in April isn't mild in my book. You don't need heat in April?
If you're smart and let that afternoon sunshine in, you only need minimal heat.

and they have state income tax too?

Oy.
Yup, but the average pay scales are considerably higher to make up for it.

Do you really think she'd be better off in Florida?

Only she could answer that. I think it would be a wash...she would make less money but probably live in a more spacious updated townhome which cost alot less. Safety and overall quality of life depends on exactly where she lives in Boston which I have no way of knowing!

It's a dead end trying to deal with that guy. Just as well move on.

She lives in a nice suburb just outside the city limits on the north side, comparable to College Park in terms of safety, neighborhood, etc. Her condo is about 12 years old, which for that area is nothing. It's plenty big enough for her and her son, she doesn't have to deal with yard work or exterior maintenance. She would take at least a $20K cut in pay living here in Orlando, probably closer to $25K, and have a lot less job stability. There's no way you can tell me that the lower cost of living here is going to make up that difference.
