Hello. I hope I can get some advice today.... I am relocating from NC to the Tampa Bay area and I have two little gilrs (4 and 2). I am trying to decided between Clearwater or Safety Harbor to get a rental home... I would like to be close to good schools in a very nice area. Does someone has an opinion on this? wish one is the nicest? please? THANKS!!!

Although the Countryside area of Clearwater is nice, my choice would be Safety Harbor, for so many different reasons, including the neighborhoods, Philippe park, the bay, 3rd fridays, and the quaint small downtown.

I grew up in Safety Harbor...long time ago and I know there have been many changes. But I hear that it's still a small town compared to everything around it. I have wonderful memories of living there. We moved to Clearwater when I was nearly 13, so I've lived in both places.

Safety Harbor gets my vote for young children. I just hope that kids are as safe walking the streets there and fishing from the pier as we were growing up...

Clearwater and Safety Harbor are pretty similar in my opinion, but Safety Harbor is decidedly more small-town. The residents of Safety Harbor seem to be very proud of their town. SH has a more active downtown (Cleveland Street in Downtown Clearwater is eerily quiet, even during the workday), more good neighborhoods than bad ones, and I think their schools may be better, though most kids attend school in eastern Clearwater, I think.

I was told by people at work that many, many homes in Safety Harbor use septic instead of sewer. Might be something to consider...

That's actually a positive believe it or not. Your water bill will be less. City water with a septic is perfect.

Interesting. I didn't know that you could get away with that within city limits, though I suppose it depends on the city and all.
