Looking for local to tell me about Pinellas county. Palm Harbor, tarpon and Dunedin. We have a 4 year old daughter and looking at kid's lifestyle there, lots or little for children her age to do. How are the teens there? Punky or respectable? WE live in Louisiana now and the kids here are the most respectable I have ever seen. What about people transient or not and are you all friendly? I am terrified to move, but need to due to family memeber ill in Ft Myers(no, we will never live there again!). Please help anyone!!! How is the Hispanic situation also?

they are all fine areas.
My husband is from louisiana and grew up in palm harbor. I grew up in Tarpon.
All the areas are good for rasing children.

I think the teenagers in the surrounding Tampa area are all nice.

Pinellas county is the most populated county in the area, covering a varied range from city to favolous beaches. All sorts of areas to live in. Lots of activities for all ages . Plenty of areas to choose from.

Default great

Thanks y'all for your advice. I really have not heard much negative things. What about waits at resttaurants and snowbirds. There is no wait for places here in Baton Rouge and no snowbirds.

LOT'S of snowbirds in fl, all over, waits at restaraunts are average, (not much in the way of new orleans cusine) sorry, dunedin, tarpon springs, palm harbor nice, cost of living is high, but the housing market took a dive, so it's a buyers market right now. farming areas are where you will find migrant workers, etc the most. welcome to florida

Default good deal

Thanks for the advice. Are there also a lot of Mom and Pop type restaurants with good food? I know that the food here in Baton Rouge is beyond superb, but hope to find good places that are not chains down there too!

There are a lot of mom and pop restaurants. The food ranges from mediocre to very good/excellent, especially with all the fresh seafood.
However, I have had many a fine meal in the cajun country towns between New Iberia and Baton Rouge........ and I can tell you that Nothing, nothing here or anywhere even comes close.
But I've heard there is a Cajun Cafe down in Largo that is supposed to be good........must go try it
