How do the prices at Publix compare to Super Target or WalMart? Here in the Chicago suburbs, we grocery shop mostly at Super Target. Produce, however, is better off purchased at a more ethnically diverse grocery store (Valley Produce, Ca****s, etc). We're moving to a home next month in FL that is within walking distance to a Publix. Target and WalMart are nearby but not as convenient.

Thanks!!

I think walmart is somewhat cheaper than both, but you couldnt pay me enough money to shop at walmart. I'd say publix and target are about the same costs but Publix does a lot of bogo sales.

Super Target is GREAT - it's my main grocery store. Prices are between Walmart and Publix, but fact is they have more selection of better quality than Walmart, and they do have a generic label about the same. I absolutely love my SuperTarget. I wouldn't set foot in those Walmarts anymore, and they are higher than they used to be, they have lost some business.

You can't beat Publix for a great shopping experience - they have HUGE selection, great customer service and they do run some great sales. I shop ALDI (for great discount) Super Target and Publix, as well as farmer's markets.

Publix has compative prices but also some items are way more expensive. Check the prices, like we do.

Publix is way better in quality of produce and gets it locally and it stay fresh longer than when you buy at Walmart or Target.

Even on the radio they were discussing the other day how you can buy bananas from Walmart or Sam's Club and they go black in 1 day while from Publix or Sweetbay they stay way longer fresh.

The bakkery from Publix is also better....

Walmart is cheaper than Publix but I hate shopping there. I buy a lot of food at once from Sam's Club and then fill in whatever I didn't get there from Publix.

Keep in mind that being walking distance to something in FL doesn't necessarily mean you can or should actually walk there. Many parts of FL are not pedestrian friendly (no sidewalks, cars going 50 MPH everywhere, etc).

Agree Publix has a lot of higher prices, need to shop from store circular in mail/newspaper. Good bakery items.
SuperTarget is farther away, nice bakery items.
Walmart try to avoid, they often don't have other things you need, so are not one stop shop.
Albertson's offers a lot of hard to find items from up north, shop their sales.
Winn Dixie we shop their sales as well.

You get what you pay for with grocery stores. Publix is going to have quality produce in addition to everything else but it will cost more. Publix popularity tells you people are happy to pay a premium for it.

Walmart is by far the least expensive grocery store in my area and have everything our family needs. Winn Dixie, Publix, Sweetbay all overcharge. No problems w/ our Walmart - not sure what all the negativity is about. If you want to pay higher prices but shop in a store that might be more visibly appealing, go to Sweetbay and Publix.

I have no issue with Walmart...I shop there on a regular base but I leave the produce most of the times due to the condition the produce is in...IMO throwing away bad produce within a day cost me more than buying better quality that is staying fresh longer.
