A week ago there was a dateline show showing the ac scams.

This week our ac needed repair and I'm lucky to know a couple of ac companies that we do a lot of work with...

Are they always honest? I don't know since we are no experts but in our case they showed what was wrong and it was similar to what happened to out other unit a few years back. The price was reasonable.

We also have stopped working with some other companies because their prices went through the roof and we felt our customers were taken for a ride.

Avoid 1 Hour Air and try Acree Air. They did us right without costing an arm and leg and didn't lie about things.

I have been happy with Kron & West (St. Pete). I did not like Bayside Heating/Cooling.

I won't bother looking at that condo , thanks again

Heat pumps can last 20yrs with regular maintenance. for that matter most HVAC systems would last past your 10 yr mark with yearly maintenance.

Default Excellent Heating and AC Company

I have been VERY happy with Air Men Heating and AC. I recommend calling them and at least getting an estimate. I had to go through three "bait and switch" companies before them and they fixed everything for a great price. No tricks or strings attached. Very nice people. I believe their number is: (813) 833-3490.

I've worked with Eddie at A/C Repairs Inc several times for different properties. Their website is not much to look at Air Cooling, Mold Control, Tampa, FL - A/C Repairs, Inc but they're great. Only a few people work there but they've been doing it a long time and are very honest. Originally used them for my office building where we were quoted $10k to replace most of the outside unit, had Eddit give a second opinion, turned out it was a $300 clogged pipe issue. At home just a few weeks ago Action Air came out and charged me almost $600 to do five minutes of leak detection and 55 minutes of trying to convince me why I'd be better off replacing my entire R22 system for $6500. I had forgotten to call Eddie since I hadn't needed him for a few years. They ultimately quoted $2000 plus labor to just replace the evaporater coil, would need several hundred more in R22, he was able to do the whole job for $1400. Would have saved a few hundred more if I had remembered to call him first; doh.
