My fiance' recently PCS'd to Mac Dill AFB in Tampa. We are renting a house in the Pavillion community on the Riverview/Brandon line. I'm looking for employment as a CT technologist, and have 4 years hospital experience doing so. The only problem is, I don't know anything about the area hospitals. I would really like to work at a place that I can be proud of, where the people really work together as a team and the hospital has a good reputation in the area. Can anyone offer advice on public opinion of the area hospitals? I've been considering Moffitt and UCH, and possibly the VA hospital. Also, what hospitals have decent pay/benefits? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! )

I worked in an out patient imaging center owned bythe Radiologist out of St Josephs Hospital in Tampa. SDI is their name and they have several locations and good benefits. I enjoyed working for them and would recommend them to anyone. If they have an opening I would apply there.

tampa General is downtown Tampa (actually on Davis Islands) which is pretty convenient to McDill down Bayhore.....however, if you want to work at a busy highest caliber place, try St Joe's Main or North- north would be a hike and a half- almost to the northern end of Hillborough County at Van Dyke and Dale Mabry, but very cutting edge systems, high tech and paperless, lots of procedures.

Thanks to you both!!! I will check out SDI and St. Joe's. Also, we are not living on base, we have a place out by Brandon/Riverview, right off of 75, so going to northern Hillsborough shouldn't be too bad of a drive, right?

If you're a military dependent/spouse, have you considered working at the VA hospital in Tampa? I expect they would give preference to a military spouse, just as they do for veterans....
