Hello and thank you for reading/replying to my post.

My wife and I are considering moving to the Tampa/Clearwater/St. Petes area in a few months. We lived in Miami for most our lives and then moved to NC for a safer place to have a child. Unfortunately, NC is just too quite and moving from Miami to NC was too drastic. We are in our 30s and our son is only 3, so we are looking for something slower paced than Miami, but somewhere that still has life/nightlife/sun and fun. Clearwater area looks like it could be what we are looking for. We are thinking about renting a townhouse for a year or so down there and maybe buying pre-construction and learning more about the area during the building process. Our budget will be around 600k. Here are some questions that you can answer to help us out:

1. What area would you recommend (Tampa, Clearwater, St Pete)?

2. Aside from Hurricanes which from what I read is not very frequent for this area (3 in past 150 years), is there any other natural disaster worries? Like flooding or tsunamis?

3. Are there good pool halls, , bars, clubs, nightlife in the area?

4. We love cuban food and other latin food, do you guys have good places there for this kind of food?

5. How are the school systems in the area that you are recommending?

6. Is there some good pre-construction locations that you can tell me the company name to look up or a link to them in our price range (600k)?

Thank you for reading and posting. I know my questions are extensive, but we want to make a good choice in moving this time around.

Regards,

Dave

Dave
I like St Pete as it has some nice areas of town and its close to the beach.

You must have a very understanding wife if she doesnt mind being home with the kid while you are hanging out at the pool halls, , bars, clubs,

Tampa has a section called Ybor City thats big on all things Cuban including food..

Read up on all the other posts regarding newcomers to the area, and you'll get some good ideas on whats going on and where..
