Every charter I look at wants 500 dollars for 4 hours. Am I looking in the wrong places online lol? Can that be right? We just wanna fish man, not take out a loan lol. We do not have our own boat but are looking.
If anyone knows of any fresh water lakes where you can rent a boat, would love to hear your ideas too.
Thanks

Prices have gone up for offshore charters thanks to insane oil prices. Now you can't even keep anything you catch.

what? that sounds like it would hurt the charter business if you can't keep catch?

I got out of offshore fishing in 04. Ya can't keep black grouper, and only 2 red snaps a day for a short 2 months. Once oil prices started going thru the roof in late 02 there was no way to make any money, plus all the new fish limits and closed seasons just put me out of biss altogether.

Gas prices really have kept charter prices at or above $400 for a half day trip. Get a couple people in the boat and divide the cost is the easiest way to make it affordable. As another poster indicated the FWC really restricts your catches now. Plan on simply making memories and having fun on a charter, if you want a fresh fish dinner you may be better served going to Publix.

Here are some excellent and reputable charter captains. NOT $500 for 4 hours. I am not in any, way shape or form affiliated with these guys. I have just fished with them and know them as fishermen.

There are lots of inshore (and some offshore) fish you can keep and bring home for dinner, even with the restrictions on some species. And the further clarify, FWC does not regulate fish past 9 miles. Red snapper and many grouper are under NFMS administration and the regulatiosn are promulgated by the Gulf Council.

That's seems like a good price for a full day - $450. The guide I use is $450 for 3/4's of a day and $550 for the full day.

I may have to check em out.
