Red-light cameras to go up at 19 Tampa intersections | TBO.com

The cameras are expected to generate about $2 million a year for the city. But Buckhorn said he believes the main purpose for the cameras is to prevent crashes. "I think as people realize there are penalties to pay for this behavior and you put other peoples' lives at risk to save yourself three seconds and you get caught, maybe the behavior will change," he said ."
If the intent is to save money, I would say donate the $2 million AS-IS for charity minus some administrative costs rather than to fill city coffers!!!

Red-light cameras will be installed at the following intersections:
1. Adamo Drive eastbound at 50th Street/Tamiami Trail
2. Fowler Avenue eastbound at Nebraska Avenue
3. Hillsborough Avenue westbound at Nebraska

5. Waters Avenue eastbound at U.S. 41/Florida Avenue
6. Armenia Avenue northbound at Hillsborough

Simple, dont run red lights. I know someone at work who got one, they are all legit, they show you multiple camera angles and video...

I don't. I've never gotten a ticket for running a red light and I won't with these cameras.
But I don't like the government watching me all the time.

I have seen cars doing the speed limit enter the intersection on a green light and before they crossed the light it had already gone thru yellow to become red. So they went thru what was red. In other states I have not seen light cycles that fast. I have seen people have to be hyper vigilant in order to stop properly on green to yellow light changes. This is dangerous.

The one at Hillsborough and Lois has been up for a few weeks now. I don't like these things and don't believe for a minute that they're for "our own good." And this is coming from a guy who doesn't get his jollies off from speeding or running lights.
