No uniforms. Just the usual dress code. Girls shorts/skirts have be longer than the reach of their finger tips, no spaghetti straps, no gang clothes, etc. They can go outside for lunch. They have a few cement tables outside. How would I rate Freedom? It is okay, not great. There have been great improvement since the new principal has arrived several years ago. The schools rating has fluctuated a bit. Last year I believe it was a "C" rated school. I don't know if it has gone up this year. You can check out www.greatschools.net and see how Freedom rates. There is a mix of races, income levels, styles, etc.

I would say the same for Liberty Middle School as well. Both my kids attended Learning Gate Community School in the past. My older daughter graduated from Learning Gate and my youngest did not want to continue going.

Your 9 year old will be going to Chiles (if you move to Grand Reserve), which I hear is better than Tampa Palms Elementary school in the respect of its environment. Less snobby, kids are nicer, and the principal is MUCH better.

Welcome to Tampa. It is a nice place to live especially if you enjoy the water. Basketball is available and many nabs have parks with basketball courts where kids play all year around.

Check out your nearest YMCA. They have lots of sports leagues and tend to be ran better. No budget cuts for those guys since they are private.

Thanks for all the responses, I have 15 days left before my move to Florida.
Starting to pack today. Basically I got rid of everything & plan to purchase my things once i get there. My only worry is registration for my kids. I hope it's not too late. See everyone soon.

First day of school starts on Aug 23. High school starts at 7:33, middle school starts at 9:00am.

Tampa Palms is lovely. We were in Land O'Lakes and the commute to Tampa was a bit too long and busy - can be busy over by Tampa Palms, too, but it depends on where you are commuting to. Have you tried looking for a house to rent? I noticed some nice ones online...
