Riverside heights is just a hop, skip and a jump from the hood. I lived just up the street on Ohio Ave and believe me, the ghetto thugs know where all the "good stuff" is, and where to go loot and rob.

That's why I moved the hell out of there.

What is your budget to rent? You can find walkable areas with restaurants and shops in S. Tampa but you will pay more to live there.

I lived in Riverside Heights which is right near or on the river and my daughter lived in Seminole Heights a couple of years ago. Homes are older but many have been updated. It is not a walkable area though.

What area will your husband be working? The Bay area is pretty spread out. Due to traffic and long commute times, this is especially important to where you live.

I have friends that live in Hyde Park...and love the quick access to restaurants etc...!I'm not sure about rentals...but I'm sure in this market you could find one!Downtown St Pete is another option...you have restaurants & art galleries galore and plenty of rentals!!

I hear about South Tampa as well! Since it will be our first time living in Tampa, buying is not an option at this point. We want to "feel" the city first. We are thinking that our budget for renting will be around $1500-$2000.

BTW my husband's scheduled hours at work are a little bit unusual: 11am to 9pm so we think traffic for him wont be and issue!
