My husband and I are looking to move to Tampa Bay area from the Atlanta/Marietta area (we have family in New Port Richey, so would like to have a decent drive to them).

I will be looking for a Counseling/Therapist position (Adult/couples/ addictions/Christian) also.

My husband and I are in our 40's and love being near the beach. We love free/neighborhood concerts and being in a nice community near the beach or on the beach. ($200's/$300'sK home).

We are debating between the Gulf side of Florida and the East Coast (Jacksonville Beach maybe??).

Any advice?

Thanks!

You definitely don't want to live in North Tampa, I can tell you that. Unless you want to be near some really bad prostitutes, junkies, section 8 neighborhoods, etc

Thanks for this advice. How about other communities north of Tampa such as Safety Harbor, or Palm Harbor?

They are fine, as are NorthDale, Carrolwood, WestChase, Citrus Park, Odessa, and many other places. North Tampa, West Tampa, Central Tampa are all slum, ghetto, dumps inhabited by lowlives.

From Clearwater Homes and Condos......

Oldsmar HomesThere are some very nice areas in Oldsmar but probably the best known area for Oldsmar homes is East Lake Woodlands.

East Lake Woodlands is a gated golf course community between East Lake Rd on the west and Tampa Rd on the south. There are quite a few subdivisions in the overall community with some being just condos, some being just villas, townhouses and several with homes.

The Oldsmar homes in East Lake Woodlands range from less expensive homes in the upper 100s and lower to mid 200s to more expensive homes in gated subdivisions.

You want to look in Trinity. Commute wise to NPR is most optimal from there. 16 minutes roughly.

Never heard of "free community concerts"...at least not in planned communities. Maybe on the beach in Clearwater. I can't think of anywhere else you might find that.

There are a bunch of business centers, and a huge hospital in Trinity that could work for you job wise.

Also that area would work for your budget, close the water you have to up that by 200/300k at least. Either that, or expect a mobile home park, it is rare you'll find something decent by the water in that range.

If you're debating east/west, I suggest to visit both, then make your final decision. The only noticeable difference is the water, by the Atlantic (East side) you'll find more choppy waters, on the west side/Gulf the water is calmer and the beaches are 10000000 cleaner.

I think a small condo on Clearwater Beach would be perfect for you!In this down market you may even get a small water view(bay or canal) for your money! You will be right near the beach and will enjoy going to free concerts on the pier(60)! One huge drawback...traffic...I would rent in the area for 6 months at least to see if you can handle traffic on the causeway...Island Estates is a good area because you avoid half the traffic hassle by exiting after the bridge!!

Irish is dead on. There are numerous choices right by Clearwater Beach, some right on Gulf Blvd, which would give you everything it seems you are looking for. The majority will be condos or townhomes, you might find a few single fam. homes in that range but condos will save you money on insurance even considering condo fees.
This would also put you about 45 minutes from NPR, The east coast near Jax you are looking at a 4 hour drive if you are living by the beach
