I took a little day trip up to Rainbow Springs yesterday from St. Pete and was surprised to see how neat Floral City was. We drove around a little on our way home it it seemed pretty cool. Mossy oak lined streets, a couple unique looking little shops and bars, a nice new rec. center and library, cool old houses, hills, lakes, etc. Anyone have any experience with Floral City?

Well, I grew up in Inverness which is 10 mins. from there. Personally, I do not like Citrus County & left as soon as I turned 18.. but it all depends on what you are looking for & what you like. Very country, trailer park- ish, oh and then there is the geriatric population. Safe, small, quiet with nothing to do except cow tipping..just kidding..

I've been through there. Seems pretty indistinguishable from a lot of inland Florida towns. Not necessarily a bad thing.

It's cute, but once you've been there once or twice, not really much to see. I don't think they even have a grocery store. Like ferret said, pretty much like a lot of small inland towns. The best thing there is the big lake and that one pretty oak-lined street.

There's a whole lot of peace and quiet there. Thats a good thing. Everything you need is just 10 -15 minutes up the road in Inverness. I have some friends living there and they love it.

I have been to Floral city 2 times and loved it. I am retiring early 56 yrs old, the 22nd of April this year. I have been house shopping and plan on moving to floral city by the end of may. Looking forward to being a semi productive retiree in that community soon.

Beautiful place,my Moms best friend lived there so we visited a lot, also motorcycled through the town on many occasion, the Oak Trees with their hanging moss was always a scenic benefit to the area, great fishing in the many lakes in the area particularly Penasofki.
Excellent place to retire if one wants to escape the hustle and bustle of the Tampa Bay area.Very quiet and very rural Florida in nature and can be very affordable..
Crystal River and Homossassa are close by if one needs all the fast food joints, bars and Walmarts.
