Does anyone know anything about life on Davis Islands south of Downtown Tampa? I have never been to the Tampa area before and after looking at a map of the Tampa area and doing a little research I was just curious about what living in the Davis Islands would be like. I don't have any specific questions right now but would just like to get any thoughts or opinions regarding that area. Thanks

it's a wonderful little isolated pocket of town that also happens to jut up next to downtown. mostly nicer homes. a few shops/stores. charming atmosphere from what i can tell.

if i was in the buying market and had tons of cash to spend on flood insurance, davis islands would be on my short list.

Yes, Davis Islands would be a really nice place to live if one has the money. Near everything good in Tampa, yet tucked away. Nice homes, feels safe, great vibe. I grew up in Tampa, always loved that area. As stated above, the only downside will be the flood insurance.

Do you guys know anything about the neighborhoods of "Beach Park" and "Beach Park Isles"? How does that area compare to Davis Islands?

My cousin has lived in Beach Park since the 1960's - he loves it, it is one of the best neighborhoods in Tampa. I can't say how it compares to Davis Islands, though, they are both nice areas.

Davis Islands is one of my favorite places in Tampa Bay. While it's changed tremendously over the years, it still retains its own vibe (to me anyway.) Just a little jump over the bridge and you're right in the middle of the frying pan too.

I too like Davis Island. It is a pretty safe area. My stepson lived in some apts there. They were older apts but nice. The only downside is if it rains A LOT it can flood near the bridge and on Bayshore. Doesn't happen often but it can happen.

Are you looking to buy or rent? What is your price range? What about work?

I also agree that Davis Island is a nice area, however, there are also a lot of adults 35+ living there that never really grew up and enjoy getting drunk all day.

I lived on Columbia Drive years ago. I had a great little apartment on the water right next to the marina there. A view of downtown, and Harbor Island. Absolutely loved it. Back then I was only paying 350/month! I'd imagine it's about triple that now.

My Godmother also lived there for many years until recently when she had to be moved to assisted living. Ironically it's right behind (or in front depending on your POV) my old apartment there on the Blvd.

We were back there a couple of weeks ago to see Jeter's new home. I've met Jeter and he's a really nice guy, very genuine, but that house....yikes. Don't care for it at all.
