My husband has debiliating migraines approximatley twice a month. We've been trying to figure out what is causing them, or at least what contributes to them, for years. He has seen a nuerologists and had an MRI, as well as a chiropractor, and countless different meds, both daily and on-set. The chiro has helped quite a bit in severity, but not frequency. One thing we've noticed is that frequently, but not always, a migraine follows a sever change in weather. In MN this happens all the time - it's not uncommon to have a 25 degree temperature difference from one day to the next. Also the change in humidity. I suspect this may have something to do with barometric pressure, but I'm not sure of that yet.

Have any of you had experience with moving from a different climate to FL and noticed an increase or decrease in migraines? Is the weather fairly similar from day to day with regard to humidity, pressure, and temperature?

The weather is fairly consistent from day to day. However, I'm no doctor, but are you sure migraines are impacted by weather? I can see where low pressure systems would put more pressure on the sinuses. So is there a link between the sinuses and migraines? Also, does humidity impact headaches. I do know I have far lesser headaches living in Florida than New York; probably due to lower blood pressure from the stress in NY! I hope your hubby does better.

my migraines have decreased in number since we moved here from up north, but i still get them from time to time.

as far as pain management, my doc prescribed maxalt a few years ago. works wonders (expensive though, even with insurance).

I used to get migraines like your husband. I did notice when a storm system was coming in I would get a headache. Other things also contribute to migraines such as food allergies, stress, hormones. I had severe migraines regularly for 10 yrs and like your husband the doctors could not pin point a cause. Thankfully I no longer get them, I hope your husband can find some relief in the new meds available for treating migraines as they can be quite debilitating.

Same here. I had them more often when living along the gulf coast and I frequently associated them with tropical storm systems.

This is sort of what I'm afraid of...

TO other migraine sufferers - I don't know if this will help any of you or not, but after hunny trying Imitex tabs, imitrex shots, imitrex nasal spray, maxalt, topamax (I think that is what it's called) as well as a few other on-set meds, he finally found one that at least makes a dent in his migraines - it's a nasal spray called Migranal. It's super expensive but they gave him a few samples and once he knew it helped, he ordered a bunch online from a Canadian pharmacy for much less. Before you lecture me about the Canadian pharmacy... he brought them into his doc here and had them checked out before using them. He has since placed several orders with them and always had great results. I believe it's CanadaDrugs.com. They do require a prescription.
