Another thing...do a lot of younger people (under 30) move to Tampa?

These forums make it seem like only the retirement community if moving there.

Well bars and alcohol questions have been answered already so i won't repeat. Young(er) people tend to move to Hyde Park/Soho (South Tampa) area or St. Pete Downtown/NE district. However those places are expensive, especially without a job ($1.2-1.5/Sq Ft or so). Job market is just like in most of the country. If you have experience/education you can get a job fairly easily. However if you have no degree or looking for labor type of work, you might be in tough situation. check out indeed.com for job opening in tampa area.
Also Tampa has HUGE transplant population, i met only few people who were born here, while most of them came from everywhere else. You won't stick out if you decide to root for Iowa or Vikings during NFL season. Hell Buccaneers are always blacked out here.

For the record i'm 27 and live in South Tampa

Tampa seems like a good choice for you. I'm a second generation Hispanic too (my parents are Cuban American) and was born/raised here.

I have two kids, 7 years old and 1year old. I am really considering relocating to Tampa. I currently live in a small town in Alabama the population is about 66,000 or so. I've been here all my life and it's really small, and there's nothing exciting here for children/teens. I'm looking for a bigger city that's safe to raise a family, and where my options are not limited. I just graduated, and i'm in the medical field and believe it or not it is really hard for me to find employment around here. There is only 2 hospitals small hospitals here, and it's hard to get a job in either one of them. It's all in who you know. With that being said where would be the best place in or around Tampa for me and my family?

Tampa taverns seem to hire young, pretty female bartenders, so be aware. it's worse than anywhere else I've ever been. It's not what you know, but who you know, and do you have breasts. I tried getting a bartending job there with no luck.
