How does Carrollwood compare to Safety Harbor, Dunedin, etc? I thought it was very pretty and green when I visited but don't know if they have any sort of "downtown" area like SH and Dunedin. I loved SH but prices are high even now.

Carrollwood doesn't have a downtown not even a sort of one. There are some nice houses all around though. There are nice restaurants and shopping but not much is walkable. Northdale might also be a place to consider.

What is your price range?

We'd like to stay around $200. We'd really like to be close to parks - we have a doberman that needs lots of exercise and we like to jog, etc. We don't want a tiny yard, either (a pool would be great : ). What's Northdale like? We visited Westchase but didn't like the cookie-cutter homes and small yards. Thanks!!

Northdale is a nice neighborhood, might tick all your boxes. One of our posters here recently moved there and seems to be quite happy, maybe he will weigh in with advice.

What exactly are you looking for? It is family friendly and you are close to many shopping from there. The last two summers I took my son on Soccer camps there and the people I met in the field looks to be nice and friendly. May be also that camp was church dominated or something. I am not techincally in Northdale but pass through at least once a week. From your description it looks like it will work for you. Just have a drive there and check. I am not familar with the school though.

Our kids are grown so school's not that important. Just looking for a nice, safer, green area with lots of parks, bigger yards and no cookie-cutter homes. I liked Carrollwood but it just seemed really busy. Someone mentioned Northdale and I wondered if it was similar in feel to Carrollwood. We're also considering Safety Harbor, Dunedin and Seminole. Thanks!!!

Given this, my pick would be Safety Harbor or may be Dunedin then.

I know this is an old thread, but of all the places originally listed (Dunedin, Palm Harbor, Safety Harbor, Oldsmar, Westchase), how's the commute to Tampa Intl airport? I'm talking 4 am to rush hour and back, all times of the day. Thanks!
