As I might be visiting there next week for a bit. I'll have my camera as usual and will be looking for old abandoned churches and/or buildings. Any place that has lots of good graffiti will always get my attention! A nice spot for nighttime Tampa skyline shots, preferably without getting mugged. Any ideas? Thank you!

The Sidestreets and alleys of Ybor might be interesting to you.

The emptiness/lack of people of downtown Tampa in the evening could make for some interesting shots.
You dont have to worry about muggers as they dont even go downtown after business hours.

Read in the paper about 3 years ago that there were only 1000 residing in downtown.

Ghost Towns and History of the American West

Gary and Sulpher Springs come to mind. Click on the map at the top, then click on Florida and it'll bring up every abandoned town in the state.

Just please keep in mind that Ybor isn't the nicest of places since you did mention you didn't want to get mugged.

I've photographed a lot of graffiti and I know all the good stuff is in some of the worse places so I kind of expected that. Thanks for the heads up, I appreciate it!

Ybor has an interesting history including underground tunnels. You will be fine during the day it is late at night when there are usually problems. Tampa Theater might also be of interest and Bayshore Blvd with the longest sidewalk in the US. Also check out Sulphur Springs Water tower.
