We will be moving to the Tampa area soon and I already have a job, but my wife will be looking. She is in occupational therapy and specifically pediatric therapy. Just wondering what the market is like for that field down there. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

HiYa! Welcome to Tampa... but I have no information at all about pediatric therapy, sorry.
I do know the state is starting to hire again. For the longest time there were no jobs posted by any state agencies and they've recently come out of the freeze. If it's tied to nursing, I see job openings for nurses all over the place. ??? hope it can give you some hope ...hehehe

Florida in general is a big market for anything health care related. However, the problem you're gonna run into is that the state majorly cut funding for health care starting in January. It might not be the easiest time for her to find a job. I work in a hospital and I can tell you that they are not replacing many positions in anticipation of these major cuts. They are instead asking people who are part time or pool to work more hours. She should start looking ASAP. I'm not sure about her specific job but there's a possibility she will have some trouble finding a job.

That type of work isn't limited to just hospitals, so maybe she will get lucky. Fingers crossed.

My wife came down with me (work transfered me), just after finishing her Associates in Nursing degree. She found it extremely difficult to find work, as most nursing jobs want at least one year expreience, and a BSN. So she is now going back to Uni to get the BSN.

As your wife has got some experience she may find it easier.

Although there's no guarantee, she is in one of the better fields to be in at the moment, so hopefully she'll find employment right away!

I hope you are right. She won't be coming down until late summer so hopefully things will still be good.
