Is there a lot of crime, are the residential neighborhoods around there nice? Is it safe to walk around there like one could in downtown Brandon?

It's fine. There is a little ghetto just to the East of downtown (across the tracks, no joke...), but it's pretty safe, quaint, it's fine

an acquaintence of mine just bought a home near downtown. beautifully restored bungalow. there are some great deals to be had over there. it is a bit more small-town'ish.
